Profile in Leadership – Evan R. Bernstein, ADL NY Regional Director

  • October 11, 2013

Name:  Evan R. Bernstein
Community:  New York Region
Occupation:  New York Regional Director
ADL Role: Regional Director, NY Region

What is your earliest memory of ADL?

I think I first became aware of ADL when I began to work in the Jewish non-profit sector. I was an admirer of its mission and its work, but ironically, I knew so little about it compared to what I’ve learned already.

How did you first become involved in ADL?

I first became officially involved early this year as a donor. My daughter’s school began using A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE® Institute materials in the classroom and I was truly impressed by what she was learning.  My wife and I immediately became donors.

How do you envision ADL’s Centennial Theme “Imagine a World Without Hate™”?

As the new Regional Director for New York I see the centennial theme as our goal for the future.  We have done so much to combat hate over the last 100 years, but there are still people being persecuted, even dying, simply because they are perceived as different. ADL’s critical work has been extraordinarily effective, but we cannot afford to let up.  We must ensure that ADL’s work continues at the highest level into the next century until there truly is a world without hate.
