A recent article by Columbia Professor Joseph Massad claims that describing Israel as a Jewish state is itself anti-Semitic, and that a method for preventing anti-Semitism is to sever the association between the State of Israel and Diaspora Jewry. At issue in this case is a challenge by the New York Attorney General’s office and 16 states, the District of Columbia, several cities, and the U.S. Conference of Mayors to stop the Commerce Department from adding a citizenship question to the 2020 census.
