New York, NY, March 10, 2016 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today praised the New York Police Department (NYPD) for their arrest of Keny Rochelin, a suspect in the February stabbing of an Orthodox Jewish man in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn.

According to reports, Mr. Rochelin was apprehended on March 9 and charged with mugging and stabbing two victims in Prospect Park. NYPD was able to connect Rochelin to the February stabbing.

“We saw firsthand how this horrific crime shook the Crown Heights Jewish community to its core,” said Evan R. Bernstein, ADL New York Regional Director. “We commend NYPD for diligently pursuing the party responsible for last month’s terrible stabbing.

“The suspect must be prosecuted to the full extent of the law and we hope a resolution in this case brings peace of mind to all of Rochelin’s victims,” Mr. Bernstein said.

Following the Crown Heights incident, ADL offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator, and noted that the crime was just one in a series of traumatic attacks recently in which Jews across New York City, particularly in Brooklyn, have been singled out for violence.
